
Women eating more mandarin oranges (ミカン) are likely to avoid the loss of bone density after menopause ---- fruiter research laboratory (果樹研究所) of General Institute of Agriculture and Food Industry Technology (農業・食品産業技術総合研究機構) on 3rd posted the result of their nutritional epidemiological research, to the online edition of international magazine specialized for osteoporosis.
The institute, which is independent administrative corporation situated at Ibaragi prefecture (茨城県), conducted the research against the residents of Hamamatsu city, Shizuoka (formerly known as Mikkabi town).
The research laboratory and Hamamatsu city jointly examined 699 residents bone density of Mikkabi town, in order to analyze the relation between blood concentration of carotenoid such as beta-carotene, and intake of fruits and vegetables.
